Do you need a wedding guest book?

So, this blog idea happened very suddenly. I had a content idea where I was going to post a reel of someone flipping through their wedding guest book with the text “do you really need a wedding guest book?” Only problem: I didn’t have one! My husband and I used Jenga pieces that people wrote short notes on.
So, I embarked on a journey to find a friend with one so they could shoot a little video that I could overlay text on. I texted my best friend asking if she used a wedding guest book. Her answer- no! Then I texted another and she gave the same response and said she felt like it wasn’t common anymore. As I texted more friends, I was getting the same response over and over again! And honestly, they don’t regret not having one at all.
Only one friend responded that she had one and and said the following: "We technically had one but it wasn’t very prominent so not many people signed it."
In my own experience, as I said, we had Jenga pieces. Maybe 30/105 guests filled it out. So is it worth it? Is it necessary? Honestly, it depends on you! You absolutely do not need it, but if you want it then go for it!
It is definitely less common and not needed, but if you want a book to look back on then go for it. Just make sure you have someone continually remind guests to fill it out, otherwise you might end up with a half empty book. Also, make sure to leave the book in a highly visible spot with signs to encourage people to sign it. These two tips will help you get that book filled out.
